I’m going to revisit the minimum wage issue again from a different perspective. McDonald’s workers in Denmark make over $20.00 per hour based on recent exchange rates. Do they have other benefits? Reasonable question. Yes, they do. How about six weeks of paid vacation per year. Pension plan, yes for employees over 20 years of age. Holiday pay- sure for at least Christmas and Easter. Shift differential for evenings and weekends- you bet. Unionized? Certainly!
What the fuck is that title 27 cents about? You were paying attention. A Big Mac in Denmark costs about 27 cents more than it does in the United States. So you have to ask yourself a question. Would you pay a bit more so that the fast food worker handing you that Big Mac can have a living wage? But that work doesn’t require even a high school education. They don’t have any special skills. So is this your position? They shouldn’t make a living wage? Fuck them! Well, you made it easy for me. You are a certified, major league, fully developed, asshole. 27 fucking pennies. Since we are talking about going to $15 per hour instead of over $20 the increase should be less than 27 cents. Of course there are plenty of folks who will tell you if we double the minimum wage those Big Macs will double in price. A recent study in the United States calculated that if you doubled the wages of every McDonalds employee the cost of a Big Mac would go up by 68 cents. This calculation includes doubling the 9 million dollar compensation of the CEO to 18 million dollars per year. If you leave that person out the increase is closer to 25 cents. So, you decide. Pay an extra little bit or spend your life knowing you are a self centered, miserly, fucking asshole. We are waiting. I made my stand. Time for you to make yours.
