The entry below is from the Tybee Island Georgia Police Department. A couple of things come to mind. First, remember your rights as outlined in the Miranda warning. Anything you say can be used against you. Second, perhaps honesty isn’t always the best policy.
I think when you are asked by a police officer during a traffic stop: “Where are you coming from? “ the best answer is not “drinking”. Certainly the blank stare and vomit on her clothing were not the best fashion statement or declaration of sobriety.
On an editorial note. Being a former Tybee resident the car in question was headed East. There is less than a half mile from where she struck the curb to the end of the island and the ocean. I don’t know if she is a resident or a visitor. Tybee has a couple of cab companies. You can go anywhere on the island for $5. I’m sure this woman will pay many multiples of $5 in fines and court costs for this interaction with Tybee’s finest. So, if you think you shouldn’t drive because of your alcohol consumption- DON’T. Call a cab. You can take lots of cab rides for the money a DWI will cost you when you are caught.
