Retirement is BUSY

I'm sorry for my recent absence and failure to post but sometimes life gets busy. My mother in law Jackie had been staying with us for the last month or so. Her younger daughter is moving to a house in Camden, South Carolina so last weekend we went to Camden to move Jackie into that home for whatever period of time she wants to be there. Before we left Georgia we spent some time shopping for items she would need for her new room. When we went there over the weekend I spent time painting her room, refurbishing the hardwood floor and shopping for additional items she needed like drapes and a shower curtain. The room turned out pretty well and I think she is happy with her new digs. She does have options. She is always welcome here. She can go back to Illinois with us to spend the summer if she wants. She can spend as much time as she wants in South Carolina.

We got back here on Tuesday late in the afternoon. It was early enough to pick Miss Lily up from the vets and being boarded while we were gone. She was very excited to see us and get to sleep in bed with us again. Yesterday was wine club at one of the local restaurants. We went and it was our second month. It seems we have a different interest than most of the group. They are so loud you cannot here the presenter talk about the wines. It appears they just want to show up and drink. We had planned on ordering some wine bottles after the presentation and having a meal. We sat at our table and got ignored by the wait staff for about 20 minutes so we decided ordering a meal and wine was not going to happen. It was their loss as the bill would have come to over $100. We went down to 80e Gastro Pub and had a beer and some boneless chicken wings. Carol decided on honey chipotle and I (for some insane reason) ordered Dr. Pepper boneless wings. Apparently the sauce is created by taking Dr. Pepper soda and boiling it down to a syrup. The wings are then coated with this sweet Dr. Pepper goo and served. I will save you the pain of the experience and just say don't ever order that. I'm sure it was made correctly I'm just not a fan of really sweet sauces and it was really sweet. Oh, and Dr. Peppery.

Tomorrow I'm headed back to South Carolina to do more work on the house. I intend to be back blogging on a regular basis on Monday.
