Bigger Problems to Address

Dr. Seuss books no longer being published. Really, who cares? It was a business decision to preserve his legacy. The government didn’t get involved. No radical liberal socialists practicing censorship. A business decision. There is still racist literature out there for you to read to your kids. Maybe try “Little Black Sambo”. Need more violent content? Try some Grimm fairy tales. Little Red Riding Hood has grandma eaten by a wolf. Three Little Pigs wasn’t exactly a happy story.

Six Dr. Seuss books will no longer be published because they "portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong," the business that preserves the author's legacy said.

The titles are:
  • "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street"
  • "If I Ran the Zoo"
  • "McElligot's Pool"
  • "On Beyond Zebra!"
  • "Scrambled Eggs Super!"
  • "The Cat's Quizzer"

People are also upset about this toy.

So he gets to be gender neutral. Who cares? Again a business decision. Why make two toys? A Mr. Potato Head and a Mrs. Potato Head.  Why not just a gender neutral one?

Let’s get real for a moment. Global pandemic, millions struggling financially, Iran trying to develop nuclear weapons, immigration issues, racial injustice and we are concerned about a toy potato. He’s only Mr. Potato Head because he has a mustache. It’s not like little Jimmie was hanging a twig and berries on him or little Susie put a coochie and pubes in Mrs. Potato Head. Get the fuck over it. At the end of the day the only effect is to ruin this image.

So pick your battle. Find something wrong and get offended. Vow to do something productive to address that issue. Just remember it isn’t either of these things.
