Do We Ever Listen to Ourselves????

Russian president Putin is currently getting involved in the problems of the country of Ukraine. He appears to have ordered troops into part of the country to protect Russian military interests in an area of the Ukraine that is closely allied with Russia. Our Secretary of State John Kerry appeared on several of the Sunday shows to condemn Russia's "incredible act of aggression" in the Ukraine. He warned Putin that Russia would face harsh economic sanctions from the international community.

Kerry stated the following.

"It is really a stunning, willful choice by President Putin to invade another country."

"You just don't in the 21st century behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pretext.."

"You just don't invade another country on phony pretext in order to assert your interests."

One may wish to look back on 2002 when on October 9th then Senator John Kerry stated the following.

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States authority to use force-- if necessary--to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass distruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."

So apparently it is okay if we do that, but it isn't okay for anyone else.

I think maybe we should go over and sit down in the corner and think about what we have done and what we just said. The ongoing detention of prisoners in Cuba without charges, the false invasion of Iraq based on lies about weapons of mass distruction and the ongoing debacle in Afghanistan leave us no standing on the moral high ground.
